RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON paper clipped his way into the pop-culture consciousness in 1985 as Angus MacGyver on the hit series MacGyver. His character portrayed an upbeat and comical hero that preferred Swiss Army knives and “found items” over firearms when he found himself in a pinch.

In 1995 he teamed up with StarFest alumni John de Lancie (Q of Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Michael Piller (Star Trek Writer/Producer) on the TV series Legend. That show, about a western dime novel writer who got mistaken as the hero of his stories, was both a critical and genre fan success.

As Jack O’Neill on Stargate SG-1, Anderson cemented his sci-fi credentials playing a humorously self-effacing average-guy, who often solved out-of-this-world problems, to the wonder of the intellectuals and warriors around him. From 1997 through 2010 he appeared in over 177 episodes of Stargate: SG-1, 4 episodes of Stargate: Atlantis and 6 episodes of Stargate: Universe.

Prior to his genre success, he played a doctor on the long-running soap General Hospital and appeared on The Love Boat and The Facts of Life. Recently he appeared on the FOX comedy Raising Hope.
